Responsible for overseeing all content of the City of LaGrange government cable channel LGTV including production of videos and television shows. Assists City of LaGrange Marketing/Communications Manager with media releases, photography, videos, live events, and performs duties as required. The person in this position may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, or as needed.

  • Creates daily media releases
  • Ability to create quality content
  • Ability to shoot and edit quality print photographs
  • Ability to use video camera, write, produce, and edit videos

  • Ability to use all social media platforms and know the difference
  • Ability to generate graphics for social media
  • Help coordinate current city educational classes and assist in creating new classes

  • Takes direction from, and positively interacts with City of LaGrange Marketing/Communications Manager and co-workers

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Good knowledge of the principles and practices of television broadcasting
  • Good knowledge of cable television programming, broadcast transmission, and basic journalism
  • Ability to speak and write clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate effectively in English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Dependability, resourcefulness, as well as good judgment is imperative to this job
  • Physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position
  • Considerable knowledge of proper handling and care of video equipment
  • Working knowledge of video production techniques and equipment operation
  • Considerable interpersonal skills
  • Considerable ability to operate effectively as a member of a team
  • Considerable ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Working ability to operate video editing system
  • Working ability to carry and set up video and audio equipment for location shoots
  • Working ability to know details of good lighting techniques and imaginative shooting styles
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Desirable Training & Experience

  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Proficient knowledge of social networking
  • Valid driver's license

Necessary Special Requirements

  • Five years professional experience in television broadcasting or similar field
  • Communications or journalism degree or similar concentration
  • Graduate degree a plus
  • May involve heavy lifting of equipment weighing up to approx. 60 pounds, possible out of town travel.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Must be willing to take constructive criticism and work with a team to create an excellent product to showcase our beautiful city
  • Must possess a positive attitude, be highly collaborative, adaptable, and show a willingness to take initiative
