Job Summary

  • Review plans for all phases of construction and development
  • Issues permits and licenses (occupational tax)
  • Meets with public, developers, contractors and business people and represents the City
  • Conducts inspections including on construction sites as to adherence to fire codes
  • May be assigned Fire Marshall or deputy Fire Marshall responsibilities
  • Serves as City's primary FEMA/GEMA agent in coordination of activities
  • Assists Superintendent with duties as may be assigned
  • Interpreting architectural drawings
  • Maintain complex records and prepare clear and concise reports

Necessary Requirements

  • Associates Degree from a college or university in a related field or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Previous experience in construction industry
  • Local government regulatory experience
  • Possess a valid drivers license
